An Abuja court has ordered that a man Frank Ugochukwu, 27, be canned for stealing some alcoholic drinks from a hotel’s wine shop, Punch reports.
Justice Umar Kagarko of the Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday, October 26, ordered that Frank be given seven strokes of cane.
Ugochukwu was arraigned before the court on a two-count charge bordering on criminal trespass and theft.
Having pleaded guilty of the offence, Ugochukwu however promised not to commit such crime again.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor had earlier informed the court that Stanley Emmanuelof Kabiru Hotel at 32 Ladoke Boulevard way in Garki district of Abuja had reported the matter at the Garki police station.
Emmanuel while making report on October 21, said the accused person stole some drinks from the hotel’s wine shop.
The prosecutor also said Ugochukwu was a former staff of the hotel.
